Well, we have dad's tractor split now because the pto didn't disengage with the hand lever. once it was split we found that the pins that hold the release bearing to the fork fell out and where laying on the bottom of the bell housing. 2019.5.8 The thrust bearing issue is a known flaw that even the factory admitted to back in the mid 1980's. Running the PTO does not cause wear to the bearing, it's when the lever is pulled back in the "off" position for prolonged periods of time that wears on that thrust bearing. That's where the "bra" helps in reducing wear.

We have a 6080 that will not idle up and will only run for a minute or so before it shuts off, if you start it back up it will run for an even shorter time, the longer you wait the more run time you get but it never reves higher than 1000-1200 rpm.

2017.8.7 The 6080 is a different tractor than the 8010. The 6080 is about half the weight. For some things that's a good thing, its a lot more nimble and has lower gears to make up for the smaller motor. But the 8010 is a lot more stable and has a massively heavier rear end. So it depends on what you're going to use the tractor for.

2020.2.3 I had a similar issue on my 6080. The cam lever that bolts to the side of the rear housing which pulls the shaft through was rusted stuck. Make sure this cam lever pivots on the pin freely. The pedal travel will just be absorbed by the spring if the cam is unable to move. WNYBill.

Split tractor and didn't see anything obvious, haven't measured anything yet because I just got a book with specs. Question is, if plates and discs are within tolerance, has anybody had any luck adjusting pressure plate fingers.

2011.10.18 There were at least 3 6080s in our area that fryed the tranny by only filling at the holle in the rear housing. They thought the rearend and trans used the same fluid. I sold my good tranny to a guy in Toronto that had done the same. Joe; I am not sure on that, I have never done a service on a 6080 myself.
